As our city prepares for another Trump inauguration, we are asking our Airbnb host neighbors to show Trump supporters who are coming into the DMV that we do not welcome hate, misogyny, or intentions to take over DC.
Black-out or cancel your Airbnb for the weekend of on January 19th and 20th (note, the People’s March is scheduled for January 18 and we expect attendees will need places to stay,
Increase your rates on those dates and then donate a portion of your proceeds to a non-profit of your choice that stands up for democracy, women’s rights, immigrants, climate change, or other issues you care about. Please Inform your guest about your plan to donate the proceeds.
As Airbnb hosts, there are two ways to do that:

Here are a few sentences to share with your renters:
Thank you for renting with us over the weekend of January 18th! You may notice that our rates are high. That is because a portion of proceeds will be donated to [INSERT CHARITY OF YOUR CHOICE]. The Trump administration has promised to implement policies that threaten democracy and deny rights and freedoms to people of color, women, the LGBTQ community, immigrant communities, and full voting rights and freedoms for the residents of the District of Columbia. We do not support these policies and instead support policies built on inclusion and prosperity for all.
